Local Area

Starting with the most important attraction -The Grampus Pub (open all year) - is a short 10 minute stroll away (15 minutes on the way back, accounting for the hill). Enjoy a local Tarka beer and sample the seasonal menu which uses ingredients from their very own vegetable patch.

We're lucky enough to be in walking distance from the beautiful beach in Lee Bay (15 minutes) with an abundance of rock pools and sandy beaches at low tide. This wonderfully secluded and sheltered rocky cove is dog friendly and surrounded by rolling Devonshire countryside.

Ilfracombe is a short 5 minute drive away offering shops, caf├ęs, bars, restaurants and a cinema, to name a few attractions. Woolacombe is a 10 minute drive and is famous for its beautiful golden sand and awesome surf.

Woolacombe

Renowned for its vast expanse of golden sand and having won numerous awards, Woolacombe has long been recognised as one of the best beaches in Europe. The Atlantic current results in fantastic surf, attracting novice and professional surfers all year round.

Woolacombe beach is dog friendly and there are a variety of bars and restaurants. It's an idyllic place to spend the day - enjoy a picnic, go surfing, paddle boarding or kayaking. Or why not enjoy an authentic Srilankan curry further along the shore at Barricane Beach with the sand between your toes!

The coast itself is part of the North Devon Voluntary Marine Conservation Area, home to many rare and diverse species. Enjoy coastal walks amongst the sand dunes and wild flowers, or relax on a sun terrace with cocktail in hand enjoying views of the sun setting over the ocean.

Ilfracombe

At the heart of Ilfracombe is a small fishing harbour surrounded by a picturesque backdrop of cliffs. The coastal town boasts a good selection of independent shops, greengrocers, butchers and bakeries.

The harbour is home to a fantastic fish and chip shop as well as a fishmonger, whose boats land freshly caught seasonal fish and shellfish. There are also a number of mouth watering Michelin star and artesan restaurants nearby who use local, fresh ingredients such as fish and seafood from the harbour, quality Exmoor meats, exceptional cheeses and local fruit and produce.

Ilfracombe harbour is buzzing with activities such as boat trips, fishing trips, day trips to Lundy Island and coastal cruises, where you can see seals, porpoises and sea birds nesting on the cliffs. There are a number of independent boutiques and art galleries lining the quay, and Damien Hirst's statue 'Verity' takes pride of place on the pier.
